Introduction
The Lyndenlea website is a personal project that has no connection to any professional or commercial activity. My processing of personal data in relation to this website is therefore not covered by the UK General Data Protection Regulation ("UK GDPR") – see Article 2(2) – or the Data Protection Act 2018 – see Section 4(2). Nevertheless, I remain committed to protecting your privacy and security, and this policy explains how and why I use your personal data, to ensure you remain informed and in control of your information.
Your personal data (i.e. any information which identifies you, or which can be identified as relating to you personally) will be collected and used by me, Martin S Pearson, a private individual. For the purposes of data protection law, I will be the data controller.
What information I collect
I collect personal data that you provide to me, for example when you communicate with me via the Contact Me page.
Occasionally, I may collect information about certain people from public sources. This could include public databases, news or other media. I don't do this to everyone, and it is the exception not the rule.
I do not collect or store sensitive personal data.
How I use information
I only ever use your personal data with your consent, or where it is necessary:
- to enter into or perform a contract with you;
- to comply with a legal duty;
- to protect your vital interests;
- for my own legitimate interests, provided your rights don't override these.
In any event, I will only use your information for the purpose or purposes for which it was collected, or for closely related purposes.
Disclosing and sharing data
I will never sell your personal data.
How I protect data
I employ a variety of physical and technical measures to keep your data safe and to prevent unauthorised access to, or use or disclosure of your personal information. Electronic data and databases are stored on secure computer systems and I control who has access to information (using both physical and electronic means).
All electronic forms that request personal data will use the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol to encrypt the data between your browser and my website. Of course, I cannot guarantee the security of your computer, the Internet or any other computer network, and any online communications (e.g. information provided via email or my website) are at your own risk.
Keeping you in control
I want to ensure you remain in control of your personal data. While you have no legal rights in this context (as the Lyndenlea website is a personal project), I will nevertheless undertake to grant you the following:
- the right to confirmation as to whether or not I have your personal data and, if I do, to obtain a copy of the personal information I hold (this is commonly known as a subject access request);
- the right to have your data erased (however this will not apply where it is necessary for me to continue to use the data for a lawful reason); and
- the right to have inaccurate data rectified.
While I will always try to respond to your satisfaction, there may be situations where I am unable to do so.
If you wish to exercise any of the above rights, please contact me using the form provided on the Contact Me page.
